Morrisons has denied claims it sold contaminated fuel at its petrol station in Scunthorpe, but has offered compensation to a number of customers that have made complaints.
Around nine different motorists recently contacted Scunthorpe Live saying that they found traces of diesel in their tanks after filling up their cars with what they believed was petrol at the branch on Lakeside Parkway on the weekend of Friday, February 3. Customers say they have since had to fork out to fix their vehicles, with some bills even stretching to around £800.
Frustrated, drivers from around the area took to social media to warn others of the problem, where they found that around 100 others had been affected. The company maintains that the fuel met its specifications, but has now promised to compensate customers.
