Compo calls for fuel scam

Contaminated petrol has caused up to €5,000 worth of damage to hundreds of cars and left many people in rural Ireland without transport.

A specially convened round-table meeting was held before Christmas where officials from the Revenue Commissioner, Department of Finance, Customs and the State Laboratory locked heads to find a solution to the problem.

However, so far, the source of the contaminated petrol has not been established and no one has been held responsible for supplying the fuel.
