TATA Motors is working on a new set of engines exclusive for future passenger and commercial vehicle line up. It has now been revealed that TATA Motors’ Engineering Research Centre (ERC) in Pune has developed a new 3.0 litre diesel with four cylinders arranged inline, featuring common rail fuel injection technology.

TATA testing new safariAn anonymous company insider revealed that the new 3.0 litre diesel engine is developed with aspiration to reduce weight and achieve higher fuel economy.

The engine is also being designed to pass rigorous emission norms, with Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) technology on air intake manifolds if needed. The mill is still a prototype, without a destined platform.

After the engine is fully developed and tested, TATA might announce where they will plonk the new improved power machine.
