It is hard to believe that anything can live and multiply in an aircraft’s fuel tank. But it is a common issue when water is present, and that water is not dealt with.

The greatest concentration of microbes is present when there is water in fuel tanks. As the density of water is greater than fuel, the water will deposit to the bottom of tanks and in the worst-case scenario, lead to corrosion.
