Contaminated fuel caused Territory cattleman's helicopter to crash: ATSB

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) says contaminated fuel caused a fatal helicopter crash on a Northern Territory cattle station.

"The loss of engine power was a result of fuel starvation due to contaminants introduced into the helicopter's fuel system during the drum refuelling," the report said

Fuel samples taken from the helicopter's tanks contained traces of water and rust particles which were similar to samples taken from a refuelling drum.
