Boat sailing from Plymouth rescued after contaminated fuel drama at sea

A BOAT sailing from Plymouth had to be rescue by lifeboat crews after breaking down at sea - because of contaminated fuel.

Fowey's all-weather lifeboat Maurice and Joyce Hardy responded to a distress call from the commercial vessel which had suffered engine failure.

The 11m boat was returning to Fowey from the city on Friday after finishing a job.

Despite every effort by the vessel's experienced crew to find a solution, they were forced to anchor two miles south of Looe Island in a significant, sloppy swell with a brisk south westerly breeze blowing.
