Joseph Furando, 49, and Tracy Pattison, a Ridgewood resident, were high-ranking executives at alternative energy companies. They conspired with E-Biofuels, an Indiana company, to falsely label their products as top-quality, pure biodiesel, prosecutors said.
This allowed the companies to sell more than 35 million gallons of fuel at a high markup and take advantage of a federal tax credit for companies producing the high-quality fuel, prosecutors said.
