State Judge J. Robin Free also sentenced Leon Wallace, 58, of Zachary, to two years’ probation and ordered him to pay the state Department of Environmental Quality $970 for the cost of the investigation, according to a press release from DEQ.
Wallace pleaded guilty Feb. 4 in the 18th Judicial District Court.
The sentence stems from an incident on Jan. 25, 2013, when Wallace was loading fuel into his truck at a local refinery and mistakenly mixed several hundred gallons of diesel with several thousand gallons of gasoline already in the tanker truck.
In trying to hide the mistake, Wallace drove to the Super Lucky Louie Casino and dumped some of the mixture at the back of the property, according to DEQ. The contaminated property has been cleaned up.
