Imran Fayaz, a driver with private hire company Addison Lee, had his company car break down after he filled it with petrol at the same station at 7.30pm on Sunday.

Imran paid for a technician to drain his petrol tank, costing £144.

His receipt indicted the tank was “contaminated with a water substance”.

A Tesco spokesman said: “Our investigation has found an isolated case of water in one of the diesel storage tanks at our Goodmayes Extra petrol

station and we are in contact with and supporting affected customers.
