Tanzania: Revisiting Fuel Adulteration and Role of Ewura

Many may remember the impact of petroleum adulteration, common in Kiswahili as 'kuchakachua'. In 2000's stories of adulteration of petroleum products, especially petrol (motor gasoline) and diesel (high speed diesel (HSD), were by then a serious problem.

Our Correspondent scrutinizes the Fuel Marking Program (FMP) introduced by EWURA to curb the problem. ADULTERATION results in modification and relegation of the quality of petrol or diesel, and that usually damages engine parts as well as effecting the environment and human health.
